The Eden Project has been voted the best British garden open to the public by readers of Grow Your Own, one of the UK’s leading gardening magazines.

As part of the publication’s first annual awards, readers were asked to nominate their favourite items, places and people from the world of fruit, vegetable and herb growing. Eden was voted the best “garden open to the public”, a category that also included the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew and RHS Garden Wisley.

Winners in the other 19 categories in which readers voted include Carol Klein in the gardening celebrity category and Jamie Oliver’s Jamie at Home in the cookbook section.

Gaynor Coley, Eden’s Managing Director, said: “At Eden we enjoy reconnecting all age ranges with the soil and encourage getting hands on with planting and growing, so it’s a great honour to be recognised in these inaugural awards. Thank you to all those readers who took the time to vote.”

Grow Your Own is a monthly magazine featuring practical, seasonal projects and advice from the county’s leading fruit and vegetable specialists. The full results of the poll appear in the January issue of the magazine.

This looks like something from the future. Like humans are living on Mars inside giant greenhouses. Looks like a good place to visit if you like plants.
