There are some very good Economic Gardening ideas coming out of Littleton, Colorado.

Such as a term called Retail Drains - where "retail sales is leaking, and the money that’s leaving town is increasingly flowing into mega shopping"...

What effect will large shopping complexes have on our local economies.

Are large shopping complexes sustainable?

To avert this economic leakage we need to support local producers, especially those who avoid using excessive inputs and fossil fuel for transport.  The more we work & trade within our area or Region the more efficient we are, and the more wealth we retain within our community.

Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a practical way of meeting these aims. CSA allows consumers to support local producers, by making a commitment to pre-purchase set amounts of seasonal produce.  This shares the risk of growing & producing food, encourages local growers to diversify and work collaboratively to meet the needs of the local consumers.

Anyone intereted in being involved in a CSA scheme, grower, retailer or consumer,  or anyone with ideas on how to start, please join this thread.
