Snake oil for the 21st century!!

Tuesday, September 29th - 6 pm, Grand County Library, 257 E. Center, Moab

Be part of this big multi-state event as we host important discussions
with Randy Udall and Garth Lenz right here in Moab and the surrounding
areas!!

The Tar Sands/Oil Shale Road Show across Utah and Colorado will
present public education events over one week in five cities:  Salt
Lake City, Moab, Grand Junction, Glenwood Springs, and Boulder.
Presentations by conservation photographer Garth Lenz and energy
analyst Randy Udall will provide images and stories about tar sands
production in Canada, which has destroyed huge swaths of the boreal
forest while contributing to global warming and toxic contamination,
and current industry plans to create a similar industry in western
Colorado, eastern Utah and southwest Wyoming. Since Canadian tar sands
are already refined in Colorado and sold in our gas stations, we
already have an immediate connection to this industry.

The Bush administration is trying to expedite regulations for this
industry in the U.S., even though the technology and its impacts are
not yet known.  Legislation currently pending in Washington can
restore sensible policy that will wait until research is completed
before finalizing any regulations.
