DOES AMERICA REALLY NEED GOD?   (Written before the election)

As the November election approaches, I believe the most important issue facing us is whether or not we will return to a nation guided by Godly principles.  I believe America needs God now more than ever, but when I sing “America, America, God shed His grace on thee”, do I really expect Him to bless what America has become?

For decades, we have turned a blind eye and given in to the continuing demands of those who want to silence any voice that shares God’s message of love and hope.  He gives everyone free will …free will to choose good or evil.  However, those who choose evil seem hell bent on forcing those of us who choose good to conform to their choices.

I believe it is evil to choose to kill unborn babies God has created.  I believe it is evil to allow the body parts of those murdered infants to be sold for profit on the black market.  I believe it is evil to use tissue from aborted babies to manufacture vaccines that are then used to immunize your children.  Should taxpayers have to fund human cloning and other experimental science that clearly are not God’s design?

Court rulings have made it a criminal offense to mention the name of God or Jesus in classrooms or at Graduation ceremonies, yet we hear the cries "Where was God?" when we learn of the slaughter of innocent children in schools across America.   Continued efforts are being made to outlaw prayer and the name of God at all public functions, yet it is commonly used as profanity throughout the media and in daily conversations.

We are battling the efforts of the homosexual community to redefine marriage, casting aside God's design of one man and one woman.  We are called religious bigots if we speak out against sexual promiscuity, yet demands have been made for billions of our tax dollars to provide medical care and expensive drugs for those who become infected with deadly sexually-transmitted diseases.

Hardworking Americans struggle to provide for their own families, yet as taxpayers we must also provide food, shelter, and health care for mothers with children born out of wedlock…even children who are born to women who are in this country illegally.

Parents whose children attend public schools have been told their children do not belong to them when they are on school property.  Some have been told they cannot have their children exempt from being indoctrinated with social issues that are against their personal beliefs.  Those who defend the teaching of material most parents find objectionable deny these parents an opportunity to send their children to other schools through a voucher program where they will actually be educated.

I believe it is evil to produce heinous material showing the violent rape and sexual abuse of infants and young children.  The multi-billion dollar child pornography industry is defended by liberal judges as free speech.  Pornographers have demanded the right to break through computer security programs used by parents in an attempt to protect their children from online predators.

The make up of the United States Supreme Court is a critical issue.  As current Justices retire or die, they will be replaced by men or women nominated by the President.   The Congressional majority will decide whether or not we will have justices who interpret the law or make the law.  I do not understand how anyone could vote for a candidate who will nominate liberal-minded judges to the Supreme Court who support the issues I have mentioned.

When I was 10 years old, I experienced overwhelming pride in America at the end of World War II. Everyone had sacrificed and done something to support our troops and the war effort during those difficult years.  Of course America has never been perfect, but I never dreamed it would become what it is today.  In years past, evil was considered wrong and was punished.  Today, evil is called a choice.

As a Christian, I believe God has given us the Bible as a guide for our lives.  I do not believe He has changed His mind.  However, I do believe He gives everyone the freedom to make their own choices.  History has proven over and over that the behaviors God calls sin lead to destruction and eternal death.  The bottom line is, truth is true…whether you choose to believe it or not.

So…what do you think?  Does America really need God?

I see more Christians coming together online than ever before. I see prayer chats and I know that every time that Christianity is persecuted the church gets stronger.

I do believe,as I watch the news and look at prophecy, that the Rapture will occur very soon.  We see Russia invading Georgia, giving them a straight route into Israel.  We see global economic chaos with countries asking for a global currency and a global government.  I see nations coming together in Europe and aligning as in the Book of Daniel.  The nations are positioning themselves to allow for a one world government as in the Great Tribulation.

Yes, I say that America is in a mess, but it is exciting.  Because the worse it gets, the closer it gets for our removal.

If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything.

Absolutely, a return to God is critical to the salvation of the USA.  A good rule of thumb is to remember that the squeaky wheel gets the grease.  Atheists are a minority in the US, and any minority that squeaks the loudest will seem to have more support than it really does.  There is a movement afoot to gain support for the atheism.  The books "Conversations With God" are an example of this.

Do a web search of that book and you'll discover the author's website in which he preaches a one world religion where instead of a belief in God, people believe in getting along and being good for goodness sake.  All good in theory, but 30 years ago, college Psychology 101 used to teach us that people seem to need a higher power to look up to and rely on spiritually to keep them on a moral path.  The entire legal system in the US was originally founded on principles of the 10 Commandments.

As atheism has taken hold, we've seen a rise in crime and violent demonstration by those who don't get their political way, such as the recent gays and their supporters who rioted in California, pushing around an elderly woman and stomping on the cross while they were at it.  They don't care that the majority of people voted against gay marriage.  So many impressionable young people are getting caught up in this sort of thing with no knowledge of history or respect for others.  What I want to know, is where was law enforcement during those events?  Why weren't they out patrolling in uniform to ensure no violence would occur?  And we have Godless parents to thank for these rioting young people growing up without the values and respect for their elders and others that previous generations are familiar with.

If anyone doubts we are in the days of anti-God, anti-Christ and anti-religion, they would have to have their blinders on.  There are those who are militant who are inciting violence among minorities in America.  And it accelerated with Obama's using the race card during his campaign.  He told his supporters to argue with everyone and "get in their face."  His supporters followed his directions.  The blame rests squarely on Obama's socialist/Marxist shoulders.

"Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people.  It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other."   John Adams

"Of all the disposition and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensible supports."  George Washington

These guys thought God was not only needed, but indispensible.  As our freedom to speak out about morals and values becomes more and more oppressed, I become more and more inspired to stand up for the liberties we have been guaranteed.  There are times when I know people think I'm being difficult when I refuse to back away from my principles, because people perceive them as insignificant at times.  But that is how our society as a whole has been worn down into accepting small indignations, until they've nipped away a large portion of our moral fabric.  I actually become energized by these seemingly small battles, because I have a good chance at success.  It is rare for anyone to challenge the status quo any more, so they will often give in when some right-wing Christian nut-job such as myself, puts up a fuss.  They've forgotten that this is the very technique used to suppress us in the 1st place.  It is quite encouraging and inspiring to discover many like-minded individuals backing you up, who were too afraid to speak out on their own.  I really believe we are the silent majority still, some of us just need a fire lit under us once in a while.  Keep your resolve, and try to maintain optimism.  Have faith that we are on the winning side.  God always wins.  It says so in the Bible.  Pity the fool who thinks otherwise. :-)

Yes- That is where America came from. But the sad fact is that many in the clergy are afraid to talk about political issues from the pulpit. There is also a movement afoot in Christian churches to just make people feel good- Don't talk about hell and damnation. My, my. Please don't scare them!

"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom", so the Book says. The Great Revival that once swept over this land began around the time of a famous sermon entitled "Sinners in the hands of an angry God". [This should be required reading for every Christian].

The minute you talk about faith and politics, you hear the cry "Separation of church and state" or "You can't force your values on me". We need our conservative leaders to step up to the plate and say this;

"Everyone who thinks that it is wrong for one group to force it's values on another group is sadly deluded. The fact is that every law is a moral law. It says that a thing is acceptable by society or it isn't. It says that something is right or it is wrong. Therefore, someone is forcing their values on someone else. The only question remaining is whose values are we going to use? Think about that!"
