It's becoming repetitive but since MuseScore is coming closer each day to the 1.0 release, perhaps we can spend a little effort on making banners & buttons. An example of a set of these banner and buttons can be found at the FireFox campaign website: http://www.mozbrowser.nl/firefox/promotie/groter.html

Are there any designers in the house?

Hi Thomas!

Here's a quick banner test.
Tried to recreate the MuseScore lyre to make it scalable.

I think that there should maybe be some strengthening of the "music" impression...
Maybe som shades of clef and notes in the background...

Any ideas about the text message?

The banner test is created using XaraXtreme (open source version for linux available at www.xaraxtreme.org, unfortunately the project seems to be sleeping, http://www.linux.com/feature/119790)
The typeface used is Kozuka Gothic Pro (part of OpenOffice 2.4, I think).

Attached jpeg and xar files.

Maybe something to start from?

Regards / Jonas

That's great !
Any change you export it an open vector format such as SVG ? or one supported by InkScape ?
You made the logo yourself ? from scratch ? impressive work :)

The logo is created by Joachim Schiele for the MusE sequencer
project using the blender program (if i remember correctly).

...But they are correct when I open the attached file in Inkscape.
Maybe it's the Firefox 3 renderer that doesn't interpret correctly...?

So, I guess there is still an opportunity to create a dedicated logo for MuseScore, right?
I'm not that much of a designer, but something which will put more emphasis on music notation or sheet music would make more sense to people who see the logo for the first time. Although this might be wrong again because when I look at the Sibelius or Finale logo, I don't see much emphasis on music notation. I guess the suggestion is more powerful than something explicit.

So, somebody got ideas?

I guess you could to the freedom to joyride a bit with the current logo and start from scratch.

So lets try to find a better slogan:
-> Let's score
-> Score it
-> Score the music
-> ...
