I am unable to locate the exact cause of the crashes. It seems to be
related to copy-paste of measures containing staff text, but I can't say
for sure.
Quote: Open the following xml file testCrash.xml and save as msc or mscz. MuseScore (r1054) crashes on Windows (XP & Vista). Most likely, the crash is introduced by the direction element in the musicXML file.

Hi, I compiled the r1113 on ubuntu. And I used the testCrash.xml file attached by thomas below.
- Open the musicXML file - Select first measure - Ctrl + B to append a measure - Ctrl + C to copy the first measure
- select the second measure - Ctrl + V ---> Crash
For the record, I did exactly the same with the same file without the direction element. And it failed as well.
The crash is related to a bug in musicXML text import. Its fixed in
revision 1113.
