Why can't our contract be written more for senior carriers?
I have been a carrier for 15 years with the number one
senority in my office. Big deal senority in our contract means nothing.
Just lost my SAT off because of our great count we have to many j routes
in our office. Now all the junior carriers with 1 -2 years get every other SAT
while i get friigin sun-wed. What a joke. The j routes need to be changed to where
you have 1 j route with every other Mon and 1 with every other tues and so on
then there would't be a back log on Saturday relief days where every j route gets a Sat.

check with your steward... I don't think they can give a junior carrier preference on J or K days over an senior carrier.... GRIEVE IT!!

In a formula office, J-routes retain Saturday relief days. This is written in the analysis of the contract. Non-Saturday relief days are assigned to K routes. I have a carrier in my office who take a high J simply to get every other Saturday off. The only winnable grievance in this situation will be whether or not management properly implemented the formula in the first place, or if they have failed to recalculate it upon hiring new subs and restored Saturday relief days by seniority to K routes. If you are in a non-formula office, then your relief day is Saturday unless mutually agreeable.

I'm senior RCA and should have gotten a route in Jan. after we had a woman retire but no,because of that stupid MOU agrrement, they are using the vacant residual route as a buffer and a girl who has been there only a month or so ,as the sub of record is carrying the rt. every day(though she does take a day off now per week, but i don't even get to carry it then either.the carrier on the matrix for that rt. does.I've heard of some Post offices freeing up some routes so the rca can bid and finally get a route. Why is that only happening in certain areas. The dps flats have been put on hold so why are the routes still being held??
