College Essay about females in music

I’m writing an essay for college on females in music... Female bands- not very exciting? It’s supposed to be a rhetorical question just before I get slated.  I’m finding these few up my street at the moment and including them, L7, Sleater Kinney, Garbage, The Kut, Hole, are there any more good ones that I’m missing?

Well, you surely have to look into iconic frontwomen as well? Forgive me for lack of names but Portishead, Blonde Redhead, Charlotte Hatherley, School of Seven Bells, The Breeders/Pixies...thems good

the bands you've mentioned are a good start. there are plenty of good female bands about over a range of genres... the slits, robots in disguise, le tigre are all worth checking out too.
