Some javascript/style in this post has been disabled (why?)
Today I did some audio for a client, and one piece included music. I use Protools for raw audio and then when I need to mix, I use Audacity. The client said he couldn't open due to Codex issues the wav files from ProTools but had no problems with the ones from Audacity that were exported as wav files.

Why is that? And what is a "codex issue?" I'd use Audacity all the time but the latency makes it not possible. I don't have my headphones loud and don't really need them except when I'm in my home studio - and I have to monitor for cars and trucks driving by.

What is the wav file setting in Audacity?

We can't answer for Digidesign, but did you give the client a standard
44100 Hz 16 bit PCM WAV? That is the sample rate and format of the
WAV files Audacity exports by default. Audio players will often say
"codec error" or similar if they cannot understand a file. A codec is
the software that does decoding (playing) or encoding (writing) of
the audio. Often the error may simply mean that although the format
(such as WAV) is supported, the player cannot cope with the particular
sample rate or format of the file.

You could consider compiling Audacity Beta from source code with ASIO
support (though this must be for your own personal use only, not for
distribution):
