Can someone please tell me where in the world I would find my clipboard in SL?

I've looked in all the places that made sense to me, but no clipboard. I want to send a link to the students in my class so they can watch a vid on education in SL and I saved it the clipboard, just don't know where the heck that is! Not intuitive.

Help!!

Thanks!

um..... the "clipboard" is a standard metaphor for "memory"

when you highlight text and press "control-c"  it will "copy" that text to memory.  You can't actually see it in memory, you just have to know its there - then, when you press "control-v" it "pastes" it from memory...

or are you referring to something else?

Your clipboard isn't in SL.  It's on your computer.  That's where
anything goes when you use Edit >> Copy or Ctrl/Command-- C on your
computer.  To paste from the clipboard into a word processor,
spreadsheet, graphics program, notecard, .... whatever, you use the
Edit >> Paste function for the program you are using or you type
Ctrl/Command - V.

Guess #3:

If you started a note card and then closed it, you can find it in inventory - probably named "New Note"

OK … my guess…

You’re in the MAP and you’ve selected the button “Copy to SLURL to clipboard”??

Just as when you select some text in Word and then hit ^C [Copy] – you copy the data into a temporary (virtual) part of memory – all you need do is ^V [Paste] to paste it somewhere else. Copying the SLURL works exactly the same way.

As Rolig suggested this all occurs within the operation of your machine… SL is just the application you’re using at a particular instant.

Thanks to you all! Kim you hit the nail on the head. I was in Map and copying the slurl.

I know you're all probably chuckling to yourselves for my silly question ("ah, silly girl"). I just needed answers and you guys delivered!!

One thing that I noticed.  I find that I must use the copy command from WITHIN SL.  Using the standard (outside of SL) "copy" doesn't work (at least hasn't for me several times)

I'm not sure exactly what you mean. You always have to be "in"
whatever program includes the information you want to copy. If your SL
client isn't the active program on your desktop, you can't expect to
copy something that's in SL. If you want to copy something that is in
a different program (text in a Word document, for example), then that
program has to be the active one. Once you have copied from any
program into your clipboard, you ought to always be able to paste from
the clipboard into whatever program is active then. Isn't that working
for you?

It didn't work for me when I tried it last night. I'll give it another go later today.

I mean that I must use the "copy" from the Second Life menu in order for something to copy.  If I use the copy command from any other menu it doesn't work.  At least it hasn't for me.  It's easy to overlook the one (especially for me with low vision) and use the other which I'm more accustomed to using.

Ah..... Well, it shouldn't work, either.  If you want to copy
something that's in SL, the easiest method is to simply highlight it
and type Ctrl-V (or Command-V if you have a Mac).

I know I'm late responding to this -- I was at a conference all last week
and
am still catching up...

I routinely edit documents and scripts offline, copy them to the OS
clipboard,
and paste them into notecards or scripts in SL.  I sometimes need to copy
chatlogs
from inside SL and paste them into a web forum or a local text file.  I
don't
believe I've ever had a failure going in either direction.
