I've taken a Christmas-themed piccie - I've just got to remember how I add it on here. I took it at Selby Abbey.2008_1201SelbyAbbey0048.JPG

Well you'll have loads of piccies compared to me - I only started in June/July this year It's set you a challenge anyway

Selby is about 9 miles away from me and it's quite an old town with an Abbey right in the middle of it.

I've only just bought my first tripod this week. I got a cheapy on from Llidls (£6.84) If I use it - and like using it- I'll buy myself a better one next year. It would be a waste of money if I find I don't get on with using one if I paid a lot of money.

It was a coward's indoors shot I took it on auto (mind you - I could find out what the camera decided by looking at the exif data)

Hey, don't knock cheapy Lidl's, they do some great stuff!! If you find your tripod a bit light or wobbly, just hang a bag underneath it to stabilise it, you might find it's already got a hook? I've also got a monopod which can also improvise as a walking stick when out on my own and a lot easier to carry, it was a great pressie from my daughter. I do find fibro fog and intelligent cameras a bit of a nuisance tho' 'cos I'm always forgetting the simplest of things, often in non-fibro company and if I'm taking piccies for Simon involving strangers, I try to do a lot of homework the night before and take notes in my camera bag so I don't look quite so stupid  Luckily, I'm quite good at the old Billy Bluff so have managed to get away with it so far!! I really have forgotten far more than I ever learned but I do enjoy photography a lot and enjoy talking pictures with anyone and everyone!! I think my favourite subjects are people as they're none two alike and if they're ever so slightly quirkey or completely bonkers, all the better!!

We all picked up a camera for the first time once in our lives so enjoy learning Scribbs, it's a whole new world thru that lens

Fibro-fog and remebering camera settings just don't go together do they I read up about what I should do - write it out on an index card - read it and... bung the camera on auto

I've had a bit of luck recently though. Our town council were looking for images to put on the oarding around the new Arts Centre. They've had two competitions and  I had one chosen for the first eight they put up and now I've had one chosen when they're putting up another four . Hubby entered too - but mine were chosen out of about 150 images each time. He's soooo pleased for me, thank-goodness.

Goole Mariners Memorial - not a brilliant photo - but I hadn't learnt to fiddle in Photoshop when I took it.

Getting back on topic

I'm looking forward to taking piccies at Christmas  Ostend, with my parents. I'd prefer to be at home with my grandson - but it's the turn of the parents this year

My grandson was in his first nativity play on Monday. He'll be four next April and wasn't inpressed woth the amount of people watching the Nursery, Reception and Key Stage 1 pupils perform. He spent most of the time sat on his teacher's lap
