YOUR IDEA OR CHANGE Change the mail count system all and all. The fact is that we do go to every address every day and I feel that we would all be better served on a point system that allows an amount of points for the type of address you are servicing and also allows points for the the structure of the route. That would then be standardized and therefore prevent the constant worry over the mailflow and the difference betweent the rural and city craft.
WHY DO YOU WANT TO CHANGE IT The amount of money that is spent paying people to count every piece of mail when it doesn't mean that if I get more than that I don't have to deliver it, etc. is just such a waste of time and money. If everyone was on a modified evaluated system then I feel that the whole postal service would gain. According to what we have been told in out office this year the rural craft was the only craft that was in the black. The reason for that is that we do our work every day and don't have to worry about getting enough hours etc. If our job is done then we can go home. We take pride in getting our routes delivered in a quality manner.
Never doubt that a small, group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world.
