DIY production of the widget is easy enough.

The five steps are noted as Done in a collection at <https://hub.chandlerproject.org/pim/collection/dce9a970-daa6-11dd-a1ca-e0e4647a0620?ticket=51aba030>.

For demonstration purposes only, which will become clear in a separate topic, this collection is named CalDAV-interop but I'm prepared to rename or remove it — something like this might be better presented by an official organisation.

Hi Graham,

Could you provide a little more detail about how you used Tinker Tool
to convert the iGoogle Gadget to a Dashboard Widget?

Is it simple enough that you could provide directions that a non-
developer could follow them?

Thanks,
Mimi

Hi Mimi

<http://www.diigo.com/04kbe> for a highlighted view of <http://www.bresink.de/osx/0TinkerTool/details.html>; the only feature of TinkerTool that's relevant to this topic is:

> Enable the developer mode of Dashboard

Approaches to enabling this mode are documented at <http://www.macosxhints.com/> and elsewhere, but applications such as TinkerTool make it easy (without requiring use of the command line). Here for reference is a screen shot showing the General tab of TinkerTool:

Explanatory text is offered within TinkerTool :)

> Drag the widget while you are closing Dashboard.

Side notes:

1. I suspect that a widget cloned in this way (from iGoogle) functions only if Google credentials are available (from an unlocked keychain) before the widget is presented.

2. The Cocotron approach <http://n2.nabble.com/-tt2157944.html> may be worth pursuing in due course.

Best regards
Graham

After reading Jeffrey's post <http://n2.nabble.com/-tp3100144p3100144.html> I searched
<https://bugzilla.osafoundation.org/buglist.cgi?component=Widgets> and found <https://bugzilla.osafoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11868>,
'OSX Dashboard quick item entry widget'.
