I don't speak Spanish, but that sounds like a long holiday. :)

Oxfam people - it'd be nice if you could distribute some information
internally about how not to send out-of-office replies to mailing lists.
You do seem to be the prime offenders. :)

There are a lot of separate organisations under the Oxfam banner.

The problem is that Oxfam uses Lotus Notes for internal email, and Notes
doesn't recognise the precedence header. It isn't something that an
ordinary user can reconfigure. I think we've got Oxfam GB's Notes servers
configured to not do this any more, but Carlos probably has to talk to his
own Notes administrators.

Alternatively I'd recommend the solution I use which is to read lists with
nntp through Gmane so I don't get my inbox filling up with list mails.

Ah, I stopped reading there and nodded with understanding. ;)

That was going to be my suggestion. ;)

Hi guys,

Although I've recently changed jobs within the organization I used to
be the Intermon Oxfam
email admin so I can speak with some authority on this topic!

As Duncan says there are many different Oxfams with different IT teams
and standards.

In Intermon Oxfam we've an older version of Lotus (ancient!) and it
doesn't permit any filtering
as to who receives the out of office messages without some serious
tweaking. This is
extremely unfortunate especially when it comes to bounce backs from
spamming but not something we can fix until we upgrade.

I actually recommend that people create a gmail account and use that for lists!

                                                      Joel

PS: We've unsubscribed Carlos from the list for the duration of his
secondment in the field.
Apologies for the annoyance!
