Capsd discovery of services that are not port based

hi all,

could anyone please help me , i need to discover a service that is not port based . The polling can be done through SNMP but how do i get past the discovery stage i mean the discovery of the capability.
as in do i have to write my own plugin , if yes then how???
any kind of help would be appreciated.

You will monitor an customized SNMP value. The capsd SNMP plugin can  
check if an OID exist. The wiki page has a really good example
