The subject line is deliberately provocative!  Canberra-Goulburn's electoral synod meets from today (Friday 31 Oct) to vote.  See the link below for the list of candidates.  They include a woman, and at least two evangelical men.  Please pray to the Lord of the Church for a good and godly process and outcome!!!

Meanwhile, a one-time candidate for Melbourne has been elected to Wangaratta (John Parkes).

I imagine that by next week we might be able to continue the conversation here about what the new bishops mean for the Australian Anglican Church scene.

I must admit that this is a rather unexpected development!!  Praise the Lord for an orthodox, mission-minded diocesan bishop!  I wonder if this means that Canberra-Goulburn will soon be far more adventurous, deliberate and centrally-resourced with the whole mission-shaped church thing?!

Who's going to replace him as the national missions person??

This really is an extraordinary result, and so good for that diocese. They get a missionary bishop with a great heart for evangelism and church planting. I just wonder how they came to make such a positive, even daring move - maybe these bones can live!?

As to the national missions person, are you putting up your hand Wei-Han? I'll vote for you.

Not me I'm afraid!  You might want someone with a bit more mission-shaped experience!
