Ball State University Offers Intense Basic Building 101 class to help Educators develop and hone Building skills

Ball State University, SL – July 2, 2009 - - As Second Life continues to make greater strides towards educational use, it becomes a necessity to maintain and develop the Second Life skills needed to keep up! Ball State is now offering a class entitled, “Building 101: The Building Blocks of Second Life.”
Building 101 is an 8 hour intense crash course that will cover all aspects of Beginner and Intermediate building in Second Life, from prim creation and movement to basic use of scripts, sculpties and animations.
Building 101 is an instructor-directed crash course, featuring a lecture portion, instructor-directed hands-on building and individual attention. Students will graduate with the knowledge they need to build projects on their own.
This intense in class instruction and in-world assistance will be available if students need help with their homework projects.
The instructor for this course will be SunQueen Ginsberg.
Prerequisites for this course are:

-          Students must have a computer that is at least at the minimum level recommended by Linden Labs, capable of running at least at Mid-Quality in preferences, with Bump Mapping, Basic Shaders and Nearby Local Lights added.

-          Students must be comfortable with using keyboard camera controls and the basic movements and functions of Second Life.

-          Highly recommended that students use a mouse with left and right buttons.

-          Students will be expected to put in a minimum of 4-5 hours a week practicing in-world

-          In addition to graphics, this course uses sound.
This course will be an asset to educators as they not only build their course curriculums, but also as they build and design their classrooms!
Building 101 will be beginning July 11 and continue through August 1, 2009. Class will be held Saturday’s at 9:00 am to 11:00 am Second Life Time (PST). The cost for this course is $149.
