Bug ? Design Implementation
If this is a bug it is probably a P7 or higher. By default, the Device toolbar is the only toolbar listed under the Views/Toolbars menu which is not turned on the first time Audacity is launched. If one turns the Device toolbar on it almost always floats at the very top left of the screen. The only exception is when you maximize the project window before turning on the toolbar. After once docking the Device toolbar, subsequent launches remember to keep it docked. I turned it on and it floated in the top left corner; on my high-resolution monitor it simply disappeared in the clutter. I think it should default to being docked just like all the other toolbars. --Ed ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Come build with us! It docks for me on Win XP 1024x768 after starting with an initialised .cfg, and even when dragging the window to the minimum permitted size (both when Device Toolbar was already visible and when enabling it after dragging to minimum size). It appears underneath the Edit Toolbar and Transcription Toolbar. Same result on Linux. Gale --Ed ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Come build with us! Repeated tests on Windows 7 invariably result in a floating Device toolbar
until that toolbar has been manually docked thereafter it stays docked. If someone else can confirm this behavior with a new install of Audacity on Vista or Windows 7 I will look into the code. --Ed > -----Original Message----- > From: Gale (Audacity Team) [mailto:[hidden email]] > Sent: Friday, October 30, 2009 1:43 AM > To: [hidden email] > Subject: Re: [Audacity-devel] Bug? Docked here. Try removing the [GUI/ToolBars/Device] section of
audacity.cfg and seeing what happens. Try removing the [GUI/ToolBars/Device] section of > audacity.cfg and seeing what happens. > > Martyn Off-list, Vidyashankar, Ed and myself came to the conclusion it's replicable by launching Audacity on a clean .cfg, OK language and splash screen, exit and relaunch, then enable Device Toolbar. After the exit, .cfg has [GUI/ToolBars/Device] Dock=0 Order=0 Show=0 X=-1 Y=-1 W=604 H=27 Intervening to change the "Dock" value to "1" enforces the docking on relaunch. Should be a fairly trivial fix then, and not a show-stopper, so I'll
leave that one with you guys. Martyn Gale Andrews wrote: > | From Martyn Shaw <[hidden email]> > | Sun, 01 Nov 2009 22:39:57 +0000 > | Subject: [Audacity-devel] Bug?
