Hi,

I've now had O'Reilly, Apress, and Packt Publishing reply and confirm
that we are subscribed on their user group programs. Now the fun begins
as it means we can request books to review and therefore place in our
User Group Library. You may already be aware of this but as part of the
process we need to agree to place a review of the requested book on a
personal blog, or another website where book reviews are typically
accessed (e.g. amazon.com). Therefore we need to stick to this
arrangement, otherwise they won't send anymore!

So here's the questions:

What books would you like to request?
We can request any book from the publisher's website/catalogue but it
might be best to request something related to python (so we can have
something to share at our python meetups :) but it doesn't really
matter. As an e.g. O'Reilly Python books are listed here[1], Apress
listed here[2] (I have already ordered the Django Definitive Guide from
Apress but feel free to submit a request) or here[3] and Packt
Publishing here[4].

What books would you like to see given away?
They also have an arrangement whereby we can give away 1 (in some cases
2-3) book at our meetings so there is no requirement for a review here!

As I mentioned previously, any book from their site/catalogue can be
ordered so just let me know (by private email) but if it's a review copy
you will need to pledge to review the book so that we can continue to
get further copies (if you don't have a blog or don't know where to
submit the review, just send it through to me and I'll forward it back
through to the publishers).

Lastly, we do get discounts from these suppliers for books so if you're
ordering a book from either 1 of these 3 suppliers, please let me know
and I can send through the discount code. I'll also be updating the
NZZUG site at some stage soon with a section where we can list requests
and books out or needing reviews to enable things to be a little more
*automatic*.

Thanks again,
Tim
