How does a rural carrier get paid for a death in the family (parent)?  One of our carriers just had this happen and she wants to take sick leave for the time off - calling hours, funeral, etc. I'm thinking she has to use annual or lwop? The other carriers are fussing over her wanting to use sick leave and I don't want her to deal with more stress, so I need to have my facts straight before advising. Thanks!

F-21 Time and Attendance Handbook (page 157) indicates that Administrative leave may be granted for funerals and refers to Chapter 5 for Rural Carriers but I couldn't find anything in chapter 5 specific to funerals.  You may want to take a look in case I missed it.

Hope this helps.
