In the early days of the internet, Mp3 files were but a dream. Most music files in .WAV format were larger than the average hard drive, so MIDI seemed a viable way to attempt a try at some TPO music. I was quite surprised in those days to see little or no reference, on the internet, to the theatre organ. Although I have reams of archived praise about my music files, there were the TPO purists who shuddered at the poor representation on my site. My scheme worked. It drew out one after another of those wanting to express the beauty of the TPO sound. In defense of my method, most of the folks unhappy about the MIDI presentation, were using crummy cheap sound cards. A blurb on the page stated the best way to hear those early files was to hear them through a Creative Labs " AWE 64" soundcard with 3D turned on. This is in the past and well forgotten...OR IS IT???
http://vans-dogpatch.com/organ//don/don.htmlLou VanDoren has graciously ported my original site (circa 1986) to his facility at dogpatch, where he has neat stories about his ham radio days and a great cookbook.
My first emulated Band Organ file should be posted to the dogpatch Band Organ page Lou has set up for me, sometime soon. I created it in a polka style and call it, "Hardy Joe's Polka" in honor of our HVO creator, Joe Hardy. It will be a tedious exposition for me to rebuild the balance of MIDI files into Mp3 files, and an equally time consuming job for Lou to arrange and post it all. Thank you Lou, Thank you Joe, and if I enjoy any of it I will thank myself with a boiler-maker sometime down the line while listening to it.
