If you are feeling weak, lightheaded, having persistant vomitting, go to an urgent care or ER to get rehydrated.
If you are having bodyaches, high fever, cough, runny nose, go to urgent care or ER, or your doc to get tamiflu.
Would not shock me if you had to more than double HC dose.
Hope you are feeling better.

Yeesh!!!
Was it an internal medicine or FP clinic.....did they have (easy) capability of doing an IV?  Are you lightheaded with standing?
Sometimes a doctors office is not as good as an urgent care or ER about giving IV fluids, because they are not set up for it.

Maybe try some pedialyte or salty soup.  If you are real lightheaded or weak, go get some IV fluids.

Joel,

I'm so sorry to hear this. I hope you are over the worst of it soon. I just got over H1N1 myself. No fun with AI!

My thoughts are with you...take care of yourself and get help if you need it!

Joel,

So sorry you're sick!  You've had a rough year.

How are you feeling today?

Do you have a script for Zofran?

I'd double or triple or whatever until I felt my sick level was "normal".  For example, I try to gauge if how sick I am is "Addison's sick" or "normal sick" like my husband would feel.  I don't usually practice what I preach though because I'm so whacked out by being "Addison's sick"!

I sure hope you're feeling better today and staying hydrated!

Dusty,

It's been 9 days. I had a fever for 5 days. I doubled or took extra everyday. Yesterday I took 5mg extra. Today I am trying my normal 25mg. I am still having some stomach upset and diarrhea. I got some PB8 today to start taking.  I have a lot of fatigue, but had that before I got sick, its a bit worse now. I want to try swimming a little but I think I should wait until my stomach is back to normal.

Joel,

I hope you start feeling better soon.  This has been a drawn out illness for you.  You never found answers to the fatigue that you had before the illness?  Any leads on that?  Abnormal labs?

Dusty,

Not really. My thyroid levels had dropped some and I have increased from 75 to 88 over the last year. My most recent test has my TSH at 1.59 but my endo thinks I could increase some more. I am not sure if it is related to the fatigue and exercise intolerance I am having. I did start to feel better back in June and got up to riding 55 miles with hills but then crashed again in July. I can't explain why I started to feel better. I did try some vitamon B12 shots on the advice of a chronic fatgue doctor and might give that another try. I don't think I have a B12 deficiency but it some how helps fatigue. Thanks for asking and congrats on your 100 mile. I would happy with 2 miles right now.

Joel,
I know Dusty mentioned this, but I will reiterate and say you should ask for a script for zofran if you don't have it.  It is so helpful for nausea and vomiting.  It has saved me several times, and it will let you sleep.  I keep a supply with my emergency injection kit.
Take care,
Amy

Joel,

I hope your stomach is feeling better!!!

Practical Selection of Antiemetics

I like the Zofran because it comes in the melt in your mouth form and when I get nauseous, I can't swallow pills.  I also like the Zofran because it doesn't make me tired like the phenergan.  The article above is interesting.  Apparently phenergan acts on dopamine and Zofran acts on serotonin.  Zofran is more effective for me, your results may vary.  I like having lots of antinausea options around my house too since I usually end up in the ER from throwing up.
