YOUR IDEA OR CHANGE Whereas the aforementioned article reads; Whenever a carrier represents that certain unusual or special services were not reflected in the latest evaluation, the evaluated time may be adjusted by an appropriate allowance as determined by the Employer. Such additional allowance may be authorized only when the carrier's actual work time exceeds the current evaluated time for the route. Hence, be it resolved that the last statement be abolished beginning with the word "such" and the term "may be" be replaced with "will be" in the remaining wording of the article.
WHY DO YOU WANT TO CHANGE IT The basic structure of the evaluated system is to pay the carrier for the work done regardless of how long or short he or she works. We need not be punished and penalized for working in an efficient manner. Extra work duties are just that, extra, and need to be reflected in the evaluation regardless if we finish under evaluation or not. No more, "it's built in" or "absorbing" the additional duties. Do not ask or require a rural carrier to do anything until you figure out how to fairly compensate he or she for the additional duty or duties !!
