Hi Ronald,
today I added a patch that fixes the bug filed here:
https://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=1886959&group_id=108454&atid=650539
Is there some way that I can comment on/edit bug reports as I fix them
(though I doubt if there will be many more that I attend to)
This particular bug was reported to Fedora here:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=440163
and Ubuntu here:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/scim/+bug/178742

I was unable to reproduce the problem, but seeming that both reputable
distributions applied the patch, I verified that Ubuntu is currently
shipping with it AND there is a comment in the scim source code implying
that this is in fact the intended behavior I feel reasonably safe in
applying it. The SVN revision is 235.

On a side note I'm pretty sure that my work's email server is swallowing
any messages from this list. Could you send me an email at
[hidden email] so we don't have to spam the devel list to
communicate :-)
Thanks,
Tim

Yes, you can.
Go to bugzilla like you have done.
for example:
for this project this is on
https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=108454&atid=650539
login and go to the bug .
you can see on the webpage several area's, go to the area "comment"
type in the comments and pus on the button "update"
