As already replied to you privately:
I think this is not an Audacity problem but a problem with needing to
get the USB turntable recognised by the computer again, and/or
setting the built-in sound device to be the default system playback
device and making sure its drivers work.
Was the Audacity error - "Error opening sound device - check the
input settings..."? And was your recording device in Audacity
Preferences set to USB Audio Codec at the time, or the inbuilt sound
device?
I suggest you exit Audacity, then go through the procedure here to
disconnect and reconnect the USB turntable then reboot:
http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=USB_turntables#troubleWhen you restart Audacity after reboot, choose "USB Audio Codec" as
recording device in Preferences. If you want to use Media Player while
the turntable is connected, go to the Vista system mixer:
http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=Mixer_Toolbar_Issues#vistacpand on the Playback tab, right-click over "Speakers" for the inbuilt sound
device and make it the default device.
If you get errors using that inbuilt sound device, you may want to go to
Device Manager in the Windows Control Panel, select the inbuilt sound
device, right-click over it and see if you have a "Rollback" option to
go back to a previous driver set. Occasionally Windows Update can update
the built in sound drivers and cause problems. See:
