Martyn mentioned that 2.0 is quickly becoming a reality and that I may
be of some assistance.  Anything in particular that I should fiddle with?

Yes yes yes!

The first two P2 issues on
http://wiki.audacityteam.org/index.php?title=Release_Checklist

My view is that we cannot release a 2.0 stable release with either of
them.  It is after all what P2 means.

I think we are going with allowing Vista and Windows 7 to be 'beta
quality' for 2.0 which lets us off the hook with some of the P2's, much
as we would like them cleared too.

If there's any chance of fixing those Vista/7 issues, I'd certainly be
more comfortable, given we pretty much committed in public to fix
them. I was taking the same line in e-mails as well, until we came
out with the deadline.

I've always been prepared to drop "P2 (Win) Input sources cannot be
selected in Mixer Toolbar" to P3 if we just turn Device Toolbar on
(though I would like this addressed soon after 2.0).

It's also possible we've at least improved " P2 Projects crash when
applying repeated effects on zoomed in regions towards the end of
audio tracks" by preventing some unwanted clips at the end of tracks.
If anyone has time, I think the best chance of reproducing this is still
doing the same effect over and over, rapidly, on the same short
zoomed-in region near the end of the track. Amplify and Noise Removal
are usually implicated.

I can try to tackle the mac P2, Leland, if you want to hit the Win 7
ones, since there are less developers that can handle those.

I think this zoom in issue has likely been solved in the thread
"blockStatus uninitialised"[0], and it will be checked in soon.

I think this one may be fixed now Michael.  Bill said he'd try to test
it on Monday.

Now that I am running Windows 7 successfully I will try to re-create the
Windows 7 P2 bugs. I am also following the threads on the forum which are
currently active (Stable and Beta -- Windows, General Feedback; Compiling
and Adding Features) and paying special  attention to those which are
flagged Windows 7.

Hi Ed

Thanks for getting Windows 7 going, I really really hope you can get
to those P2s.  I would be great not to exclude 7 from the stable
release, but if we have to, we will.

Michael,

Can you reproduce the bug on your machine?  I can't on either my
PPC/10.4 or Intel/10.6 fellas.

Thanks,

Leland
