I am a 22 year old male.  Never went to college (could not afford).  The only jobs I have ever had were minimium wage.  I know how to run a shift at a fast food place (i have done it before).  But I was not offically a manager.

So I am going to start lying and saying I was an assisstant manager at a burger king that closed down in my area.  Obviously references is going to be hard.  I have friends who would lie for me but...Im not sure they can pull it off.

Also I am thinking of lying and saying I have an associates degree...think they would be less likely to check if i just say that I have a 2 year degree?

I need some advice here.

Since the place you mentioned closed down, you're in a good place to get away with it.  Having a good reference from the location you said you were "assistant manager" at could be the what makes or breaks you during the hiring stage.  Find a friend that is smart and start roll playing the call that they're likely to get from a prospective employer.

You really are better off saying you've got a 4 year degree (if you feel comfortable saying this AND adding this to your resume)

Your story could be that you worked your way through college working at a fast food joint and eventually were promoted to assistant manager a year before you graduated.

Remember, only you can decide what you're comfortable fudging. The responsibility (and liability) is yours and only yours.

Good luck!

If you dont feel comfortable saying you have a bachelors, its a good idea to say u have at least an associates. I dont think they would check at all. However, if you use a degree from a fake college, they may research the college since they have never heard of it.

Today, many people are pursuing legitimate degrees online from state colleges. You could pick a college and if they ask u can say u did it online. These colleges generally handle their online and adult education programs differently than their traditional programs. I cannot remember but I know many foreign colleges also offer online education (I believe Imperial College, London does). Many of the US colleges have multiple locations too, within their states.

Just put some thought into it. Good luck.
