On tuesday America elected their first black man as president. Understandably this historic event has dominated the news.

What hasn't been made so public over here is that on the same day, voters in 4 states (California, Arizona, Florida and Arkansas) enacted a ban on gay marriage in those states. The vote against gay marriage was overwhelming in Florida and Arizona; even in 'tolerant' California where Obama picked up 61% of the vote, the vote against gay marriage was 53% to 47%.

It just goes to show how the views of the majority of real people are usually not reflected by the socially liberal policies of certain political parties (and Hollywood stars, and media organisations, and university academics, etc.), especially on the issue of homosexuality.

I wonder also - will this take the wind out of the sails of the apostate TEC church?
