I read a note somewhere that said for the 1st 5 pay periods after you start work as an RCA you are paid actual hrs worked on the route and after that it goes to evaluated. Is that true, outdated or would it now be part of the 24 hrs of OJT you get at your office when you start?

It's new to our latest contract.  The clock starts on that when you are officially hired, so it includes your academy training too.  They should change it to start when you first carry the route by yourself, but that would make too much sense and cost the Postal Service more money.

that only applies if you go over time during the first 10 weeks,  if under, you get the full days pay.

Well, yeah.  Even the Union wouldn't agree to pay you less, but how many new RCA's could beat their evaluation that fast.  It took me a year when I started before I could beat the evaluation, and that was in the summer.
