Dear All,

Apologies for missing anyone who was at the AGI conference this week. I did manage to catch up with a few people, and also had some fruitful discussions with the AGI about the potential for joint conference hosting if we decide to put a bid in for hosting FOSS4G. More on that later!

All the best

Jo

Hi Jo,

Joint conference hosting of FOSS4G 2012 with AGI will be excellent. I think that will make the bid strong.

Best wishes,

Suchith

Will? Has it been decided and planned already?

No, nothing has been decided yet! We're just mulling over some ideas about how to produce the strongest bid possible *if* we decide to go ahead.

Well worth reading this then:

http://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/FOSS4G_2009_Lessons_Learned

The earlier 'lessons learned' wiki pages are worth reading too - we
don't want a repeat of the great food mistake of 2007:

"""
FOSS4G attendees are predominantly male. That means that standardized
food orders, that expect more gender balance, will tend to
under-budget for how much each attendee eats. This was especially
noticeable on "pizza day", when, despite the food services
accidentally over-providing 20 pizzas, we still consumed every single
piece.
"""
