Since Washington is now going to be in the hands of Chicago politicians, I think you should take a look at how state government has been managed for the past 6 years under total control by Chicago democrats.  Awhile ago I was not very happy with this AP writer, Christopher Wills, but this time he seems to have captured the essence quite well with actual facts.

You could say almost the same exact thing for every large city in the country. Up until recently, NY was controlled by the republicans, and now they have a deficit in excess of 2 billion dollars. California's is probably even larger.

So, what's your point?

I'm fairly sure that Illinois is the creator of Pay to play politics.  In California, you need to be born into it or have so much money that running for office is just for a hobby.  But Illinois is a rare bread when it comes to politics.  Sure, New York has the Mob ties, Illinios calls and raises. Alex Giannoulias, Richard Daley, and I will stop at just those two (the list is so long) Click here to follow the bouncing ball.  Seebee, should I show them a timeline of how it works?

(full disclosure, I like the guy.  Our families are friends, even if my uncle fought tooth an nail to stop the downtown hotel they write about in 1995)

engineer77 - the point is until 6 years ago we had a functioning state government.  Yes, even under former Governor George Ryan state government had leaders who were not simply overpaid political flunkies with no qualifications or no experience who could pass a state budget and were somewhat accountable to the taxpayers.  You may as well get used to having overpaid political flunkies who could care less about how they spend your tax dollars.  They will  stuff them into their pockets and special funds, and those of their friends and families who will also all be on the payroll flying high!  The point is get used to the crooks from Chicago.

Hello Seebee, I was looking at the SJR today and they had a little "talk to us" thread asking what was the worse present we ever received for Christmas.  Try as I did, they would not put up my post as follows:

A subscription to the SJR.   Guess they have no humor over there.  (they actually did a nice article on my cousin the other day when he was sworn in as county clerk)
