Hi, Team LAME,

Sadly, a bug report: on the positive side, I've been happily playing with LAME for a fair few
years and this is the first one. It's one of my favourite apps.

LAME encoded the file (apparently OK), then caused an error message when it went to close.
There were a few other apps running, but nothing related to audio except the volume controls.

- MS Error message (transcribed from the DOS box):

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Assertion failed: cod_info->part2_3_length <= targ_bits[ch], file quantize.c, line 2068

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

- The "Appcompat.txt" file:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-16"?>

Hello Steve!

What LAME version are you using?

- my guess: 3.98 beta 5

What LAME settings are you using?

- my guess: some sort of CBR

Does LAME reliably abort on that input file?

- my guess: yes

Can you provide a small sample triggering that problem?

- my guess: yes

Ciao Robert
