Well, triathlon season's over and I have a "Life" again (sort of).
First of all, thanks to everyone who helped me with my electrolyte struggle. What a royal pain! But I think I have it all figured out.
In total, I did 7 triathlon's this year (If one is good, two is better and 7 must be great - sigh, it sometimes hurts to live with my brain). 3 of the Triathlons were 1/2 Ironman's (3kilometer swim, 90 km bike and 1/2 marathon) I came in 3rd in one and qualified for the world championships in Germany next year - alas, I've decided not to go as I registered for the Ironman Canada in Penticton, BC next summer. I can't afford the money, time or health (too close between Ironman and the championships). I'm so happy!!!
I've started training already for the Ironman next August - swimming lessons. Eventhough I am a swim instructor, my own stroke needs much improvement. That being said, I had an "Addison's day" today. Woke up and said "right, it's going to be a bad day, eh?" and back to bed I went. I find when I have a poopy day, if I get up, have my morning pills, a bit of breakfast, a gaterade and more sleep, I can usually turn myself around. Totally sucks that we have to do this but my mantra is "I'm alive and still running!" (they said I'd never run again! HA!)
I just want to say to those having troubles with their Addisons - you have to take control of your own health. I have lost a lot of faith in the medical community. It's sites like this where you will find the information, then find a doctor or doctors who will listen and treat your body - not the numbers. Soooooo hard to do. The first 5 years were hell. There where no cool sites like this. Now, I've taken control, learned as much as possible, taught my family how to look after me (my husband is the miracle worker) and don't listen to anyone tell me what I can't do!!!
Now ... if someone can tell me how to get my memory back!! It totally sucks since getting Addisons.
Off I go to bed - I'm up early to look after my animals then swim, swim, swim, sigh. I do it for the reward of a coffee - mmmmmm coffee ....
Take care of yourself,
Your's in health - Kel
