6 day Aux RCA doing express mail for all rts?

I am an RCA, second in my office. The Senior rca has a six day aux. and is also being given the express mail for all the office. My question is whether I should Greive the issue. I only get 3 days on average a pay period. I have talked with the PM about this, and showed her the MOU about extra duties for Aux RCA's. PM said that if I push the issue, then the senior rca would not carry the express, and I would not either. She does not like to be told what to do.  Our express has been coming in around ten o'clock, has been like this now for many months. Am I reading the contract and MOU wrong? I read it as the Aux RCA only is offered aux assistance or express after other available RCA's have been offered the work.

Your PM is right, you're not entitled to the extra work.

My question is whether RCA on six day Aux can carry this, without it being offered to me first? I know  that she can have anyone else carry before an RCA

Did you not see #3? Or is it simply there for no reason.

Anybody can take Express mail out.  They don't have to go by seniority on that.  If it was any other function you'd be correct, but Express mail is not a craft specific mail type.

Isn't RCA assigned to 5/1 or 6 day Aux limited, or at least sent to the end of the list for additional work?

Yeah, except for express mail.  Your PM could have anybody take out the express mail.  Maintenance can take express mail out; clerks can take it out.  It doesn't matter.

There are no 'and's between the three exceptions.  They each qualify on their own.  Hence #1 covers the issue.

The PM often takes the express out in my office. It is the only way that it can be delivered sometimes. She either goes at lunch or puts a "Be back in ?? minutes" sign up. She gets the mileage.

When I was the aux carrier  was showed that I was not allowed to carry the expresses. It is written somewhere...In our contract, I think...and why are they arriving so late at your office??? I am in a large office and they are available before we leave. And when I was in a small... one route ..office they were available before we left.

wv rural , that is craft work they are not suppose to be doing craft work, anyone in your office could grieve and get paid for it, not that it would matter most rural carriers are just laying down and letting management clerks and city carriers take over their jobs but complain when they lose on count

I am an Aux carrier in a small office (we need help bad--very short staffed). I am told I have to take the express out for all routes because the Express guy shows up way to late! After 10:00 Am sometimes. As for me me I don't see why a reg carrier(if close enough to the office) couldn't swing by and pick it up themselves but as it stands I deliver them after I get off my Aux route. I was told "anyone can deliver an Express" so I do it. But I think if you are in a igger office I would think anyone who his available at the time should be able to take it as long as they are still in the office!! Just my thoughts on that!!

Victoria, are they paying you for the time and Miles? The manager at my station is being very creative with paying the RCA. She is paying by giving pov credit, when the RCA is driving an LLV. Seems like it might cause her and the RCA trouble just to save her the time to fill out proper time card

Dont fight this one Doug...Express mail is NOT craft specific...if you fight it..NO RCA will get to do them..they will hand them off to a clerk....

They use the aux Rca for a reason..I see the point you are trying to make..but you will never win this.
To err is human...to blame it on someone else shows management potential!
