Hi all,

I would like that thank Jozsef Gabor who sent me a description and some
screen shots to expand
the "Powered by Click" section.

Their application, Microshop, is a generic online shopping portal for
products from different vendors.
Microshop fully supports localization and customization of the user
interface.

The project started in February 2008 and is still under active development.

Thanks again Jozsef and team.

kind regards

bob

Dear Mr. Bob Schellink,

I am writing you to ask whether you could add our project to the Powered by Click section at the Click project site.
Our domain address is www.gaabor.com

I would like to thank You,  Mr. Malcolm Edgar and the development team the excellent framework you have made
available to the java community.

Our project is a simple e-commerce application that demonstrates the potential and the flexibility of the click
framework.
This project is started at the end of February this year and is still under active development.

During the project we have developed a few custom components such as image,  secure page link and panel switch.
For the i18n we have used our own approach.

Yours Sincerely,
Jozsef Gabor

I think the "Powered by Click" should have it's own separate page because it will grow much much bigger, as many new projects will adopt Click.
Such a page is very very important for those that still need to decide upon a webframework.

Also, I think some order/structure would not be bad, e.g. commercial/open source/ public/intranet.
(or at least some tags).

The actual style could be also improved:
  - float the thumbs to left
  - describe shortly how Click helped (not just what the application is doing).
  - allow more screens for webapplication when they look very good.

Thank you,

Demetrios.
P.S. Some of the webapplications are worth a blog entry too, e.g. "Yet another project adopted Click...", or presenting the existing ones about how they were helped by Click to get released earlier.

A separate page is better but currently we are constrained by the size
of the TOC. The TOC frame does not scroll so it has to fit in 1024x768.

If I recall the reason for having frames was for the offline site
navigation.

Moving to Apache I think we should look at an alternative site layout
and get rid of frames if possible.

Perhaps docbook can help in this area.

+1   once we move into Incubation we should probably look at this.

A separate page is better but currently we are constrained by the size
of the TOC. The TOC frame does not scroll so it has to fit in 1024x768.
I don't think that the "powered by" page should be in the TOC: it could
be down in the left conrner with an abosolute position (on my 1024x768 there's enough place for it), in
form of a small logo/banner called "Powered by Click" (the same as the "powered by Velocity" banner from the first page, but it should contain the click icon in it) that would link to that page.

I could try to make such a small banner if you want.

The frames as they are now are very nice: I like the Click site very much.
Of course, one could improve the navigation a little, e.g. by using numbers for the pages that are "documentation", and for the "subchapters", or moving some links somewhere else,e.g. on the top for the "download" links.
Also with a little static javascript, the tree could be made to support even more items, but still be very nice like it is now.

I would keep the framed version even if a new one is introduced because is very efficient, e.g. even on Nabble, I use the framed style of displaying message threads because it's the most efficient (than the other "ajaxy" ways, or the convoluted "dispaly all in one").

Docbook can help allot, but as I mentioned in the Docbook discussion thread, regarding the
navigation: DocBook won't do much.

Demetrios.
